DESCRIPTION
This urban infill project adds three new residences to an existing semi-detached residential flag lot with a vacant parcel at rear laneway. The concept was to design new laneway housing off the laneway, with mews entry from Dovercourt Road. Special attention was paid to sensitive integration of new residences into the urban fabric of the existing area as expressed in building material, massing and detail. Front yard greenspace, covered porch and private garage for each unit is provided on-site. Large expansive windows strategically located ensure an abundance of natural light into the main living areas. Collaboration with an urban artist for laneway murals was incorporated into the design of the project to curtail graffiti and contribute to the laneway culture.
